Family History is the name given for investigating and documenting one's ancestors. Genealogy is another name for this work. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints promotes this research to find our ancestors to fulfill Biblical Prophecy and fulfill the Church doctrine of redeeming those deceased by providing sacred ordinances vicariously in the Temples of the World.
